Hacktivism what does it mean?

While browsing wired.net site I saw this interesting article thought was nice to read... Read Links

Hacktivism - refers to the development and use of technology to foster human rights and open exchange of information.
(Cult of the Dead Cow)

hacktivism.org featured a qoute from the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UNDHR). under Article 19 it read, "Everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression; this right includes freedom to hold opinions without interference and to seek, receive and impart information and ideas through any media and regardless of frontiers."

"It is an opportunity for engaged young programmers to do COOL and socially beneficial stuff with their technical skill and curiosity -- instead of getting in trouble, And I believe that." - Patrick Ball (Director of human rights programs at Benetech)

And the most interesting part of this article is this "The overall message is 'Go out there and do it and be yourself.' Be daring. That's what the t-files and hacktivism are all about."

This sounds like thumbs up... "You are unique... Dare to Dream, You Can Do It! Coz You're the Best!"
